The Salon

Games that never make the poster

Once a month, the glass-walled salon on Whitsunday Star closes to the public calendar. Twenty-four seats, nominated by members, dealt by our senior crew. The guest list is the game.

  • Deep-stack formats agreed by the table, not the poster
  • Private cashier, dedicated dealer, cellar service
  • Biometric entry — the door knows the list

Themed nights

Three evenings with a dress code

Monte Carlo Whites

White dress, brass accents, roulette wheels between the card tables. The chandelier comes out of storage for this one.

29 Nov · Coral Duchess

Havana on the Tide

Dominoes on the aft deck, rum flights, a salsa band and a poker room that smells faintly of cedar.

21 Feb · Pacific Empress

Noir: The Late Game

Low light, jazz quartet, black felt. The room runs on whispers and the occasional gasp at the river.

14 Mar · Whitsunday Star
Runway on deck

When the promenade becomes a catwalk

Twice a season we clear the promenade for fashion — local designers show resort collections with the wake as a backdrop, then the poker floor opens for a tournament dressed to match.

The finale

Fired from a barge, watched from the rail

Big nights end with light. A licensed pyrotechnics barge holds station off the stern while the winner lifts the trophy — six minutes of show, visible from every deck.

The sky deck stays open

Busted players don't go home — they go up. DJs on the upper deck, the late bar open until docking, and a quiet lounge below for the finalists still counting chips.

The leaderboard

A season, not a single night

FAQ

Booking a seat

Reserve now
Public tournament nights sell individual seats — one ticket, one stack, dinner included. Private charters book by the vessel; the contacts form handles both.
By nomination. Captain's Club members hold two guest nominations per season, and the club desk reviews requests against the month's field. A track record on the public ladder is the fastest path in.
Constantly — December especially. Waitlists open automatically when a sailing fills, and roughly a third of waitlisted guests get the call when payment windows lapse.
Yes — a block of 40+ seats converts a public evening into a semi-private section with its own leaderboard and trophies. Ask about the corporate overlay on any scheduled date.
