Your data, our duty

Privacy Policy

How Southern Seas Events collects, uses and protects the personal information you trust us with — written in plain English, because legal documents shouldn't need a decoder.

Last updated: 1 February 2025

1. Who we are

Southern Seas Events Pty Ltd ('we', 'our') operates casino and poker events aboard chartered and owned vessels departing Australian ports. Our registered address is Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, Pinkenba QLD 4008, Australia. You can reach us at [email protected] or +61 7 3860 9150.

2. What we collect

Booking information: name, contact details, guest counts, dietary requirements and event preferences you give us when enquiring or booking.
Payment data: processed by our payment providers — we never store full card numbers on our systems.
Biometric data: for salon and VIP events, facial-enrolment data used solely for boarding access. It is encrypted, stored separately, and deleted within 30 days of your event unless law requires otherwise.
Website data: analytics identifiers, cookie preferences and the technical data your browser sends.

3. How we use it

To respond to enquiries, produce your event, meet maritime manifest requirements (we must supply passenger lists to authorities for every sailing), process payments, and — only with your consent — send seasonal offers and invitations.

4. Who we share it with

Maritime authorities (passenger manifests are a legal requirement), payment processors, caterers (dietary data only), and professional advisers under confidentiality duties. We never sell personal data.

5. How long we keep it

Booking records: seven years (tax and maritime law). Biometric enrolments: 30 days post-event. Marketing consents: until you withdraw them. Enquiry data: two years unless it becomes a booking.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you can access, correct or request deletion of your data, object to marketing, and complain to the OAIC. Email us and we respond within 30 days — usually much faster.

7. Security

Encryption in transit and at rest, access limited to staff who need it, annual security reviews, and breach notification as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

8. Changes

Material changes are flagged on this page and, where significant, notified to upcoming event contacts by email.
